Agartala Jan 02: With full state honours, Tripura Revenue Minister NC Debbarma was cremated at his parental residence in Nakshirai Para, Uttar Maharanipur under Khowai District here on Monday.
Defeating all the efforts of doctors to resuscitate him, NC Debbarma breathed his last at GB Hopsital Agartala on Sunday.
The 85 years old politician held the portfolio of Forest, Revenue and also served as president of IPFT, the BJP’s ally in Tripura and was also the senior most member in the state cabinet.
Late Minister Narendra Chandra Debbarma was accorded state funeral with due dignity on Monday after at his ancestral home in Khowai district’s Nakshirai Para.
People from different parts of Khowai district thronged in to Nakshirai village to have a last glimpse of the veteran leader.
Tripura Police IG Soumitra Dhar District Superintendent of Police Ratiranjan Debnath, Khowai District Magistrate DK Chakma, Teliamura Divisional Police Officer Prashun Kanti Tripura, Teliamura Divisional Magistrate Abhijit Chakraborty, Kalyanpur MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury, Krishnapur MLA Atul Debbarma, EM Kamal Kalai, District Forest Officer, Commandant of TSR 12, 10 and 6 Battalion, Forest Officer, Khowai District Congress President Shabd Kumar Jamatia and other dignitaries took part in the state funeral ceremony of the departed dignitary.
Earlier in the day the departed minister was accorded floral tributes by several dignitaries including Tripura chief minister, Tripura Legislative Assembly speaker Ratan Chakraborty, members of Tripura state cabinet, legislative assembly members and other leaders including Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman and Left leaders of Tripura as his body was taken to the Civil Secretariat and Tripura Legislative assembly.
The body of the late minister was also taken to All India Radio Station Office at North Gate where the officials and other employees paid floral tributes.
