Agartala, 19th September 2026 : Major General Anurag Vij, Additional Director General of the NCC Directorate North Eastern Region (NER), met Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha in Agartala on Saturday and discussed measures to expand the National Cadet Corps’ presence and activities across the state.
The meeting was attended by Brigadier Anand Raj Singh, Group Commander, Silchar, and Colonel N. S. Baath, Commanding Officer of 13 Tripura Battalion NCC.
According to the NCC Directorate NER, the discussions centred on extending NCC opportunities to more young people, particularly those living in remote and rural areas. The meeting also addressed increasing NCC coverage across educational institutions, expanding cadet strength and improving infrastructure to support training and related activities.
The possibility of hosting national-level integration camps in Agartala was also discussed. Such camps would provide cadets from different parts of the country an opportunity to interact, exchange cultural experiences and promote national integration.
The discussions also covered expanding opportunities for cadets to participate in military training, adventure activities, trekking, camps and leadership programmes. The NCC further highlighted the importance of career guidance and creating greater awareness among students about opportunities in the Armed Forces and other career fields.
The NCC leadership also sought continued cooperation from the Tripura government for conducting training programmes, camps and other youth-development initiatives.
The meeting underscored the importance of strengthening coordination between the NCC and the state government to promote discipline, leadership, social responsibility, adventure and national integration among Tripura’s youth.
