Agartala, 6th August 2024: After a quarter-century of unfulfilled promises under the Left Front, the North District is witnessing the implementation of long-awaited development projects. The general secretary of the BJP North District committee and the candidate for the Zilla Parishad Joyjit Sharma expressed his pride in spearheading these initiatives.
“During the Left Front’s 25-year tenure, leaders failed to deliver meaningful progress in our villages. In the last five years, we’ve seen significant improvements, and I’m committed to realizing the Panchayat’s vision,” Sharma remarked.
Sharma pointed out the dire situation faced by the residents of Bagbasa, Latugaon, Muktakhali and other villages within the assembly constituency. “Despite being predominantly rural and agricultural, these areas lacked basic infrastructure. No proper roads, minimal government projects, and a scattered population made progress challenging,” he explained.
With over 11,000 voters in the center, Sharma’s campaign has gained traction, especially in Kara Kendra, where a woman was elected in the last election. The dynamics have shifted this time, with the SC women’s seat number 9 now represented in ZP number 12. “We have three Panchayat Samiti members, one of whom was elected unopposed,” Sharma noted.
The BJP leader criticized the opposition parties, stating, “Both CPM and Congress have fielded candidates, but the Congress candidate is likely to lose his deposit, and the CPIM candidate is expected to garner only a few hundred votes.” He added, “Our lead in the center is significant, with a gap of around 35,000 votes.”
Sharma’s efforts have been widely recognized in the community. “In the last five years, despite losing two years to the pandemic, we’ve achieved a lot,” he said. “Over 400 houses have been provided under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, compared to just a handful in the previous 25 years. We’ve brought over 500 farmers per village under Kisan Samman Nidhi, built 700 to 750 toilets in each village, and ensured 60% of the population benefits from the Ujjwala Gas Yojana.”
Healthcare has also seen improvements. “Ayushman cards have reached 100% of the people,” Sharma claimed. “However, due to inadequate publicity, many are still unaware of the Kanya Isha Yojana benefits.”
Looking ahead, Sharma promised further advancements. “If elected, I will provide trade lights through solar lights,” he pledged. “We’ve also adopted a system to grant land and houses to non-Bengali Hindustani families, with 110 families already benefiting.”
Despite allegations of sabotage from CPIM and Congress miscreants, Sharma remains undeterred. “The people support us,” he asserted. “I’ve even lodged a complaint at Bagbasa police station to ensure our campaign remains unhindered.”
As Sharma’s campaign gains momentum, the young leader’s dedication is evident. “The people of the area are embracing him as one of their own,” a local resident said. “He’s working tirelessly to improve our community, and we’re confident in his leadership.”
Joyjit Sharma’s relentless efforts and commitment to development have brought hope to the North District. “We’re making progress every day,” Sharma affirmed, “and I will continue to work for the betterment of our community.”
