Agartala, 28th October 2026 : Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha said that the development of health services is one of the priority areas of the present state government, which is working relentlessly in this direction.
“The government is working to improve healthcare infrastructure. This government is committed to working for the people and for their welfare,” he said.
Dr. Saha said this today while laying the foundation stones and performing the Bhoomi Puja for various development projects in Gomati district at Tripura Sundari Sub-Divisional Hospital in Udaipur.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Saha said that the projects include the expansion of Tripura Sundari Sub-Divisional Hospital, the expansion of Gomati District Hospital, and the establishment of a Block Public Health Unit.
“The present state government is continuously implementing development projects. One of the priority areas of our government is the development of health services. There will be no compromise on this under any circumstances. In this direction, the foundation stones for three projects have been laid here today. Rs 189 crore has been allocated for the implementation of these projects.
“Udaipur has always been a significant place for us. It has a distinct religious, cultural and historical identity. The Mata Tripura Sundari Temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, and a large number of tourists from outside the state also visit this place. In the future, Udaipur will be developed as the second-best city after Agartala. Along with this, satellite towns will be developed in Udaipur, Dharmanagar and Agartala,” he said.
He said that last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the beautification project of the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple under the PRASAD scheme.
“Since then, a large number of visitors and devotees have been coming here. Replicas of the 51 Shakti Peethas are also being constructed here. The tallest Nataraja idol will also be installed. An environment conducive to meditation is being created. Once these projects are completed, Udaipur will occupy a special place not only in India but also across the world,” Dr. Saha said.
In his speech, the Chief Minister also said that during the last financial year, various development projects worth around Rs 1,500 crore were inaugurated and their foundation stones were laid across the state. So far this year, he himself has inaugurated projects and laid foundation stones for projects worth around Rs 1,300 crore.
“Along with this, other ministers are also implementing public-oriented projects. This year, starting from Durga Puja, various projects worth around Rs 260 crore have been inaugurated and their foundation stones have been laid. We have no alternative but to work. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also emphasised the importance of work.
“The state government is working to improve healthcare infrastructure. New district hospitals are being constructed in Khowai and Sepahijala districts. Initiatives have also been taken to construct new hospitals in Mohanpur, Jirania and Udaipur,” he added.
