Agartala, 17th August 2025: A newlywed couple lost their lives in a devastating road accident this afternoon while returning from a family pilgrimage to the Kasbeswari Temple at Kamalasagar.
Local sources informed that, Dibakar Ghosh, an employee of Tripura Gramin Bank in Belonia had taken advantage of a three-day office break to visit the revered Kasbeswari Temple with his wife Priyanka Ghosh, his parents and his aunt. After offering prayers, Dibakar suggested that his parents and aunt return home separately while he and Priyanka took a detour to visit the Bishalgarh Nouka Ghat on their scooter bearing registration number TR01AW-9205.

Tragedy struck near the Gokulnagar TSR camp when Dibakar’s father Fatik Ghosh noticed a crowd gathered on the roadside. Upon approaching the scene, he found his son and daughter-in-law lying critically injured and bleeding on the road following a collision between their scooter and an Ecco vehicle.
TSR personnel at the camp immediately rushed Dibakar to Tripura Medical College and Dr BR Ambedkar Teaching Hospital, while Priyanka was taken to Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital. Despite emergency medical efforts, both were declared dead shortly after arrival.
The couple had been married only a few months. Dibakar was the only son of Fatik Ghosh and Priyanka was the sole daughter in her family. Their sudden deaths have cast a pall of grief over the entire community.
Local police from Bishalgarh station arrived at the hospital following the incident. The bodies have been moved to the respective hospital morgues, and will be handed over to the family after post-mortem examinations scheduled for tomorrow.
