Agartala, 1st December 2025: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has introduced a new scheduled halt for the Agartala–Silchar–Agartala Express at Pencharthal (PEC) Railway Station, marking a major boost to rail connectivity and passenger convenience in North Tripura. The new stoppage was formally inaugurated on Monday during a ceremony attended by Smt. Santana Chakma, Minister for Industries & Commerce, Government of Tripura, along with senior officials of NFR.
According to the updated timetable, Train No. 15663 (Agartala–Silchar) will arrive at Pencharthal at 14:01 hrs and depart at 14:03 hrs. On the return journey, Train No. 15664 (Silchar–Agartala) will reach the station at 13:13 hrs and depart at 13:15 hrs.
NFR authorities noted that adding Pencharthal as a halt is an important step toward enhancing passenger services across the Northeast. The move is expected to provide more convenient travel options, ensure better access to railway facilities, and improve connectivity for residents of North Tripura and surrounding areas.
Following the inauguration, Minister Santana Chakma shared her gratitude through a Facebook post, thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of State Veeranna Somanna, and Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha for supporting the long-pending demand of the local population.
“This new stoppage is a meaningful gift for the people of the four blocks under the Pecharthal area,” she said. “It will ease travel, enhance trade and commerce, and accelerate the region’s overall development.” She also acknowledged the continued support of her constituents and expressed optimism that the new facility would create fresh opportunities for the area.
With this addition, NFR reiterated its dedication to improving passenger amenities, expanding regional connectivity, and contributing to the Northeast’s development through dependable and commuter-friendly rail services.
