Agartala, 2nd November 2026 : The Sepahijala District Committee of the NHM United Forum on Monday submitted a 15-point deputation to District Magistrate Dr. Siddhartha Shiv Jaiswal, seeking the resolution of various long-pending demands concerning the rights, job security and welfare of National Health Mission (NHM) employees.
The deputation was submitted at around 12 noon, highlighting several key demands, including equal pay for equal work, Child Care Leave for female NHM employees, a festival advance of Rs 20,000, benefits under the 8th Pay Commission and regularisation of contractual employees.
The organisation also demanded job security, financial protection, social recognition, promotion opportunities, career progression, a uniform HR policy and benefits equivalent to those enjoyed by regular government employees.
During the meeting, the District Magistrate reportedly acknowledged the justification of their demands and assured the delegation that the issues would be forwarded to the higher authorities for consideration.
Speaking to the media after submitting the deputation, district-level leaders of the organisation said that NHM employees play a crucial role in keeping the state’s healthcare system operational. Despite their hard work and dedication, they continue to face discrimination and remain deprived of several benefits enjoyed by regular government employees.
They stressed that their contractual service status has left them economically and socially vulnerable and demanded immediate regularisation along with equal service benefits.
The delegation included NHM United Forum Sepahijala District President Kaushik Das, Secretary Sukanta De, Vice-President Biswajit Debnath and Joint Secretary Dr. Partha Debnath.
The organisation said the deputation was aimed at securing long-pending rights and ensuring dignity, stability and equal opportunities for NHM employees across the state.
