Nine college students detained for vandalism in Agartala, produced before court

Agartala, 30th November 2025:    Tripura Police today produced nine youths before the court seeking police remand after they were arrested yesterday night for allegedly went on a rampage, damaging public property and traffic infrastructure.

According to New Capital Complex Sub-Divisional Police Officer Subrata Barman, the youths created chaos across multiple locations in the city, destroying flags, festoons, and banners. They also uprooted traffic glow signboards and even looted kilometre indicator boards.

The entire episode came to light after videos of the vandalism went viral on social media. Following this, police verified CCTV footage from various areas and swiftly acted, detaining nine individuals involved in the incident.

“All nine have confessed to committing the acts under the influence of alcohol,” SDPO Barman said.

 “A case has been registered against them, and the Tripura Traffic Unit has also filed a separate case. They will be produced before the court today.”

Police confirmed that all the detained individuals are college students who were reportedly on their way home after attending a programme on Friday night.

Authorities are further investigating the extent of the damage and evaluating necessary legal action to prevent such incidents in the future.
