Agartala, 28th October 2026 : The NCC Police have arrested nine persons in connection with a burglary at the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (LARR) Authority office in Kunjaban, Agartala, following an investigation launched on the basis of a complaint lodged on October 27.

Briefing the media, NCC Police Station Officer-in-Charge Paritosh Das said the burglary involved the theft of copper wiring from air-conditioning units, computer equipment and other office property.

“Yesterday, we received a complaint from the LARR Authority office in Kunjaban regarding the theft of several items, including copper wiring from air-conditioning units, computer equipment and other office belongings. Following the complaint, we registered NCC Police Station Case No. 90/2026 under Sections 331(2), 305(e) and 324(3)(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS),” Das said.

He added that a police team, led by the investigating officer and other personnel of the police station, conducted an investigation and succeeded in apprehending nine suspects from different parts of the state.

According to the OC, the arrested persons do not belong to a single locality. While some are residents of areas under the jurisdiction of NCC Police Station, others hail from Khayerpur, Kamalpur and Sidhai.

Das further revealed that some of the accused have previously faced allegations of theft. However, the investigation is continuing to establish their respective roles in the burglary and determine whether others were involved.

“The nine arrested persons will be produced before the court today, and we will seek police remand for further interrogation. Through questioning, we hope to gather more information and uncover additional details related to the incident,” the OC stated.

The police are expected to pursue further leads during the remand period. Details regarding the recovery of the stolen articles, if any, and the possible involvement of other suspects are yet to be established.

The arrest of nine persons marks a significant development in the investigation, as police continue efforts to determine the full extent of the alleged burglary.
