Agartala, 26th August 2025: For the first time in India, under the initiative of the NIPUN Mission, a large-scale, educational campaign has been launched across the state of Tripura. The campaign targets students from Balvatika (pre-primary), Grade 1, and Grade 2, focusing on ensuring their foundational skills in language and numeracy.
To mark the third anniversary of the NIPUN Tripura Mission and the fourth anniversary of the NIPUN Bharat Mission, a robust foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) reinforcement drive has been taken in every school of the state since 1stAugust, as per government guidelines. This campaign will continue until 31stOctober.
To develop awareness about the revised goals of the NIPUN Mission set by the central ministry, vibrant rallies, street plays, and parent-teachermeetings are being organized not only at the school level but also at the block level. Children, accompanied by their teachers, are marching in rallies through nearby neighbourhoods holding placards. Over 500 awareness rallies have already taken place across various parts of the state, with more being planned.
With active involvement of students, teachers, and parents, creative street plays are being conducted in schools and Block Resource Centres. These street plays are centredaround the lakshyasof NIPUN Mission. Each school is conducting parent-teacher meeting in two phases. In the first phase, teachers are holding discussions with parents about their children’s individual learning gaps and the type of support they might need. A second phase of such conferences is scheduled towards the end of the third month.
To further boost public awareness about NIPUN Mission, well decorated awareness vans are traveling throughout every block of the state.
During these three months, schools are prioritizing the development of learners in reading with comprehension, number recognition, and basic arithmetic operations (addition and subtraction). Importantly, there are clear instructions to follow the prescribed curriculum for each class and to ensure that no extra burden is placed on students.
Director Elementary Education, N.C. Sharma, is actively overseeing the campaign’s successful execution and has already completed visits to a number of districts, including Unakoti. Additionally, the District level and Block level officers are also regularly visiting schools to monitor the progress.
Specific responsibilities have been assigned to BRPs (Block Resource Persons) and CRPs (Cluster Resource Persons) to support the daily implementation of the program. They remain present at school every day to provide necessary assistance to both students and teachers.
To culminate the campaign, a special event titled ‘NIPUN Fest’ will be held in each district between October last to November 18th. These events will showcase the educational progress made by students over the past three months. The event will include stalls displaying handmade Teaching-Learning Materials (TLM), health awareness stalls, and cultural performances relating NIPUN Mission.
During this NIPUN Fest, 10 students from each block will be awarded for significant progress in literacy and numeracy skills. Additionally,to boost up motivationthree no. of Inspector of Schools (IS) and selected 3 no. of BRPs/CRPs from each district will be felicitated for their outstanding contributions and dedication throughout the campaign.
