Agartala, 8th March 2026: National Law University Tripura (NLU Tripura), Agartala, has commenced a 40-Hour Mediation Training Programme specially designed for women leaders from various communities of Tripura, marking the celebration of International Women’s Day.
The programme is being organized in association with the Rural Development (Panchayat) Department, Government of Tripura, with AIIMAS, New Delhi, as the Training Partner.
The initiative aims to equip women community leaders with essential mediation and dispute resolution skills so that they can effectively contribute to maintaining harmony and resolving conflicts within their communities.
A total of 25 women participants will be trained in this training programme. Among them, 15 participants have been nominated by the Rural Development (Panchayats) Department, Government of Tripura, while 7 participants have been nominated by the Office of the Director General of Police, Tripura and 03 faculty members of NLU Tripura.
The diverse participation reflects a collaborative effort to strengthen community-based dispute resolution mechanisms across the state.
Prof. Yogesh Pratap Singh, founding Vice-Chancellor of University while delivering welcome address said that this programme represents a unique and innovative initiative by NLU Tripura to take mediation and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms to the grassroots level. By empowering women leaders with professional mediation skills, the university seeks to enhance access to justice, promote peaceful resolution of disputes, and strengthen community leadership at the local level.
The training will be conducted by experienced resource persons and mediation experts associated with AIIMAS, New Delhi, who will provide both theoretical and practical insights into the principles, techniques, and ethics of mediation. The programme will include interactive sessions, role plays, and practical exercises designed to help participants develop confidence and competence in handling community disputes.
Through this initiative, NLU Tripura reaffirms its commitment to community outreach, legal awareness, and capacity-building programmes that promote access to justice and social harmony in the region.Registrar Prof Nachiketa Mittal delivered vote of thanks during inaugural session.
