Agartala, 8th March 2026:  On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Tripura Pradesh Mahila Congress expressed strong criticism of the BJP-led government. The party alleged that under BJP rule, women’s rights in the country are increasingly being undermined, and incidents of violence against women are rising day by day.

To mark International Women’s Day, the Tripura Pradesh Mahila Congress organized a program at the Tripura Pradesh Congress Bhavan in Agartala. The main objectives of the program were to demand women’s safety, protect women’s rights, and call for the defense of the country’s secular constitution, while urging for a unified effort to bring change in the BJP-led governments at the center and in the state.

During the program, leaders of the Pradesh Mahila Congress addressed the gathering, stating that under BJP governance at both the central and state levels, cases of violence against women have increased alarmingly. Reports of brutal assaults on women from various parts of the country have emerged frequently, raising serious concerns for society.

The leaders also alleged that in many cases of violence against women, names of BJP leaders and party workers have been implicated. In this context, they called on everyone to unite and participate in protests demanding women’s safety and protection of their rights.

The program concluded with an appeal urging all women to come forward and join a larger movement to secure women’s rights and safety, starting from International Women’s Day.
