Agartala, 6th August 2024: Superintendent of Police Bhanupada Chakraborty of North Tripura District discussed the extensive security arrangements being implemented for the upcoming 3-tier panchayat elections scheduled for August 8. The elections will be held across various districts including North District.
Speaking to media persons at Dharmanagar, SP Chakraborty emphasized the importance of ensuring a safe and secure environment for voters to exercise their democratic rights without fear. “We have taken comprehensive measures to provide overall security to the people. Our goal is to ensure that everyone can vote freely and without any intimidation,” he stated.
To achieve this, a robust security presence will be maintained throughout North District. Personnel from the CRPF, SSB, BSF, TSR and the state police will be deployed not only at polling stations but also in other areas to guarantee public safety. “We are committed to maintaining peace and order during the elections,” SP Chakraborty assured.
A total of 347 polling stations will be set up in North Tripura. Of these, 8 are in vulnerable, 90 are classified as sensitive, and 249 are general polling stations. Four companies of CRPF have been allocated to district to strengthen security efforts. “CRPF jawans will be strategically deployed to ensure the safety of the people, especially in sensitive areas,” he added.
SP Chakraborty also addressed concerns regarding the neighboring country of Bangladesh, which is currently experiencing instability. He urged the public to refrain from posting unverified information on social media. “We request everyone to think carefully before sharing any posts. Our priority is to maintain the unity and peace of our country,” he said.
SP Chakraborty called upon all citizens to exercise their voting rights responsibly. “Let us work together to ensure a peaceful and orderly election process,” he appealed.
