Agartala, July 17, 2023: In an effort to achieve significant success, North Tripura district police has been vigilant in intercepting various firearms illegally entering the state. Several reports indicate that these illicit weapons have been making their way into different regions, raising concerns over the potential threat they pose.
Police conducted a search operation on Sunday night on a red Alto car with registration number TG-07-ZZ-0790, leading to the arrest of two suspects. During the operation, two mobile phones were seized from the suspects, containing numerous incriminating images.
The arrested individuals, identified as Baharul Islam and Ajijul Rahman Mia from Assam’s Karimganj district, are believed to have been involved in the illegal arms trade within the state’s boundaries. Their arrest has drawn attention to the need for tighter security measures to prevent any disruptions to the peaceful environment within the state.
Furthermore, to enhance border security, 45 kg of cannabis was seized, and a man named Nayan Chauhan was apprehended while attempting to smuggle it from India’s border with Bangladesh. The incident took place at Dharmanagar Railway Station on Monday morning.
While these successful operations reflect the dedication of Uttor District Police, the ongoing influx of illegal arms and narcotics has raised concerns among the general populace. Despite the efforts led by the Superintendent of Police, Bhanupada Chakraborty, to reach specific targets in the war against drugs and arms smuggling, there remains an evident need for continuous vigilance and action to curb such unlawful activities.
