Agartala, 6th September 2024: Teachers, the architects of society, play a pivotal role as mentors for future generations. To honor their invaluable contributions, India celebrates Teacher’s Day on September 5. This date marks the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, born in 1888, a distinguished philosopher, researcher, teacher, and professor who became the second President of India in 1962. When his students sought permission to celebrate his birthday, Dr. Radhakrishnan requested that the day be observed as Teacher’s Day to recognize the dignity and respect of teachers.
On this special occasion, distinguished educators across India are felicitated by the President, and at the state level, the Governor honors them for their contributions. In Agartala, the Town Hall hosted a ceremony to honor outstanding teachers from the state.
Five teachers from the northern district were recognized for their exceptional contributions to education: Narayan Chandra Das, H.M (JB) Bakboki High School; Nabendu Sen, Netaji Para JB School, Dharmanagar; Tapas Deb, Dharmapur SB School, Dharmanagar; Uttam Kumar Goswami, South Phulbari High School, Dharmanagar; and Sunita Kairai, Laljuri HS School, Kanchanpur.
The recognition has brought joy to the school education department, district education department, school authorities, fellow teachers, students, families, and local communities.
