Agartala, 17th April 2025: In a major breakthrough in the fight against narcotics, the notorious drug mafia Ripon Mia was arrested today evening in a successful joint operation by the police and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) in Veluachar Dayalpara under Boxanagar’s Kalamchoura police station.
The operation, which lasted for over an hour, was carried out with active support from local residents and was led by Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kalamchoura police station, Naru Gopal Deb.
Acting on tip-offs provided by a section of locals, the police and TSR forces conducted a coordinated raid on Ripon Mia’s residence, recovering several boxes of drugs and other narcotics.
Ripon Mia had long been a menace to the area, with locals accusing him of luring the youth into the dark web of addiction. His growing audacity in recent months had triggered widespread resentment, resulting in increasing pressure on the police to act.
Eyewitnesses at the scene described a tense moment as an angry crowd gathered during Ripon’s arrest. Security personnel had to intervene promptly to prevent the situation from spiraling out of control.
SI Supratim De, Bishwajit Debbama, Asim Bhowmik, and several other officers were part of the high-stakes operation.
“There are multiple drug-related cases pending against Ripon. His interrogation is underway, and further raids will follow to dismantle the rest of the network,” OC Naru Gopal Deb said.
