Agartala, 28th May 2025:  In a major operation against illegal gambling, Panisagar Police arrested a notorious arrow gambler Swapan Das at Jalabasa Bazar under Panisagar sub-division yesterday afternoon.

Authorities reported that Das, a resident of Pekucherra village was caught red-handed during a covert operation. Officers seized gambling equipment and Rs 200 in cash from his possession. However, officials noted that most modern arrow gambling takes place through mobile phones, making large cash seizures uncommon.

Sources indicate that Das has a history of repeated arrests under the Gambling Act, with multiple cases registered against him. Despite previous detentions, he allegedly resumed operations, posing a challenge to law enforcement. Following his latest arrest, Panisagar Police booked him under Section 12(G) of the Indian Penal Code and confiscated his belongings used in gambling. Das was produced before the North Tripura District and Sessions Judge court today.
