Agartala, 28th October 2025:  A seminar highlighting the importance of drug price regulation and public awareness was held today at the Gournagar RD Block Hall, organized by the Tripura State Pharmaceutical Pricing Monitoring and Resource Unit (TPMRU). The event focused on the theme: “Price Regulation by NPPA and Introduction to the ‘Pharma Sahi Daam’ Initiative.”

Tripura’s Deputy Drug Controller Kanchan Sinha, MLA Birajit Sinha, Gournagar Panchayat Samiti Chairman Lakhi Namah, Vice Chairman Badruzzaman, and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Rughul A were among the dignitaries present.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Drug Controller Kanchan Sinha emphasized the pivotal role of the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) in safeguarding consumer interests through fair drug pricing. “There is often confusion regarding the cost of medicines. This initiative aims to eliminate such ambiguities and raise public awareness. Through the ‘Pharma Sahi Daam’ mobile app, anyone can now easily access the government-fixed prices of specific medicines,” he stated.

Sinha further noted that the government’s efforts would enhance transparency and public trust, while also curbing excessive pricing in the pharmaceutical market.

Local representatives from the Gournagar Panchayat Samiti actively participated in the seminar, gaining detailed insights into the initiative. The session highlighted the significance of government-led measures in promoting price transparency and strengthening consumer rights in the healthcare sector.
