Agartala, 19th July 2025: Tripura police recovered approximately 10,000 Yaba tablets during a special search operation conducted at the Poutakhali traffic naka point in Panisagar this afternoon. One individual identified as Milan Sinha of Kumarghat in Unakoti district has been taken into custody in connection with the seizure.
The operation led by Panisagar Sub-Divisional Police Officer Soumya Debbarma was initiated based on confidential intelligence inputs. “We received specific information that led us to suspect a six-wheeled lorry coming from Guwahati. The vehicle was transporting eggs but showed suspicious behavior while passing through the naka point,” said Debbarma.
The lorry bearing registration number NL01AE-8996 was halted for a preliminary search. Upon escalating suspicion, officers from Panisagar police station and the SDM office joined the effort. The vehicle was thoroughly inspected in the presence of SDPO Debbarma and a DC officer, ultimately revealing a concealed packet containing the illicit Yaba tablets.
A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Panisagar Police Station. Authorities have launched a full-scale investigation and suspect the involvement of a broader smuggling network.
“Interrogation of the arrested individual is underway, and we’re working to unearth the larger nexus behind this operation,” a police source disclosed.
