One killed over family dispute at Jirania

Agartala, October 20:  In a heart-wrenching incident that transpired on Thursday in Jirania, a dispute between family members took a fatal turn, resulting in the untimely demise of one Safar Ali Mia.

The accused, identified as Sharif Hossain, is now in police custody, while the bereaved family calls for justice. According to eyewitnesses and preliminary reports, the unfortunate sequence of events unfolded around twelve o’clock on Thursday when Sharif Hossain engaged in a heated argument with his wife. Sensing the escalating tension, Safar Ali Mia intervened to defuse the situation. However, the altercation escalated further, leading to a physical confrontation.

Tragically, the situation turned deadly when Safar Ali Mia allegedly assaulted Sharif Hossain. In an act of desperation, Sharif Hossain retaliated, wielding a sharp knife that inflicted fatal injuries on his brother-in-law. Despite immediate medical attention, Safar Ali Mia succumbed to his injuries shortly after being admitted to the Jiraniya sub-district hospital. His body was released to the family after undergoing a post-mortem examination on Friday afternoon. Local authorities swiftly apprehended Sharif Hossain in connection with the incident. The accused now awaits due legal process as the grieving family members demand justice for the tragic loss of Safar Ali Mia.
