Agartala, 27th March 2026:   A shocking case of violence and extortion has emerged from the ONGC Quarter Complex in West Tripura, where a minor girl with autism was allegedly assaulted by an ONGC employee.

On March 23, 2026, the accused identified as Junior Fireman Dipgolap Das, reportedly attacked 8-year-old Arshi Bongcher after she accidentally smeared paint on his vehicle while playing. According to the formal complaint with Amtali police station and TCPCR, Das physically assaulted the child, attempted strangulation and refused to release her until her mother Ranjani Debbarma surrendered a golden chain to cover alleged “financial losses” for car repairs.

Medical evaluations at Tripura Medical College documented severe injuries, including throat trauma, knee injuries, and a dislocated tooth. Following the incident, the Amtali Police registered an FIR case number 25/2026 under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for charges including extortion, criminal intimidation and voluntarily causing grievous hurt.

Seeking further accountability, the victim’s father Samarjit Bongcher has petitioned the Tripura Commission for Protection of Child Rights, demanding strict action against the accused for the heinous act against a specially-abled child.
