ONGC outsourcing workers block national highway at Kalachara, Sabroom over unpaid wages

Agartala, 29th January 2025:   A blockade of the national highway in Kalachara, Sabroom by ONGC outsourcing workers has brought traffic to a standstill, causing significant disruption. Vehicle drivers and passengers have been left stranded enduring considerable hardship. Upon receiving news of the blockade, police rushed to the scene.

One of the protesting workers explained that ONGC outsourcing workers have not received their due wages for an extended period. Despite multiple complaints to the responsible officer, no action has been taken. Consequently, the workers are living in poverty.

Today, hundreds of workers gathered to block the road in Kalachara, Sabroom, demanding their unpaid wages. The protestors, engaged in ONGC work, allege that many vehicle owners who rent out their vehicles to ONGC have also not been paid.
