Agartala, 3rd April 2025: Badarpur police have arrested another key accused in the ₹400 crore online trading scam that rocked Assam’s Sribhumi district in the Barak Valley. The accused, Rajdeep Dev, was apprehended on Wednesday night from a rented house in North Tripura’s Dharmanagar with the assistance of Tripura police.
According to sources, Rajdeep Dev, a resident of BSF Camp Road in Sribhumi town, had been on the run ever since the arrest of the prime accused, Mohammad Shakir, in Kolkata. “We have been tracking his movements for a long time. With the cooperation of the Tripura police, we successfully arrested him and brought him to Badarpur,” an Assam Police official stated.
Investigations have revealed that Rajdeep had been living a lavish lifestyle after defrauding people of crores of rupees under the guise of online trading. “This scam has victimized not just residents of Assam but also people from North Tripura. The accused had swindled huge sums, promising unrealistic returns on investments,” the official added.
Authorities further disclosed that the gang had operatives in various locations, including the Churaibari police station area. “The crackdown is ongoing, and the remaining members of the syndicate will be arrested very soon,” assured the Assam Police.
Meanwhile, despite the significant development in the case, Badarpur police have refrained from making any official statement on the arrest.
