Agartala, 13th February 2026:   A photograph of Tripura Chief Minister and noted medical professional Manik Saha was found lying inside a roadside drain in front of the state Secretariat, raising questions about cleanliness and administrative oversight in one of the most sensitive areas of the capital.

According to local sources, the photograph had reportedly been lying in the drain for a considerable period. The area is frequently used by ministers, secretaries of various departments, IAS officers, and other senior administrative officials. Despite the regular movement of high-ranking authorities through the stretch, the matter allegedly went unnoticed — or at least unaddressed — prompting criticism from residents.

Eyewitnesses present at the spot expressed visible anger. “This is not just any individual’s photograph; it is the Chief Minister’s picture. Such negligence reflects administrative indifference,” said one passerby. Another local resident remarked, “If this can happen right in front of the Secretariat, one can easily imagine the condition in other areas.”

Residents believe the issue goes beyond a photograph lying in a drain. They argue that it reflects broader concerns regarding responsibility, monitoring, and the maintenance of dignity and cleanliness in a key government zone. The incident has sparked debate over why adequate measures were not taken to ensure proper upkeep in front of the Secretariat.
