Agartala, 2nd April 2026: : Tension has gripped Kailashahar’s Doluchhara area following a shocking incident in which a nine-year-old girl was subjected to a brutal assault. Local residents have erupted in anger after the crime, allegedly committed by a youth from Bhagwan Nagar.

According to reports, the child—identified as Rimpi (name changed)—was alone at home on Thursday morning when the accused, Jafran Hussain (name changed), forcibly took her to a nearby forest. There, he attempted to commit a heinous act of sexual violence. The girl’s cries alerted villagers, who rushed to the spot, caught the accused red-handed, and handed him over to police.

The victim’s parents, both daily wage laborers, were away at work at the time. Police later rescued the child and took her to the station. However, serious questions have been raised about the police response. Locals allege that officers initially refused to accept a written complaint from the girl’s mother, insisting instead on filing a suo motu case. This sparked outrage among family members and residents, who demanded proper legal action. Eventually, police conducted the child’s medical examination and produced the accused before court.

Meanwhile, local sources claim that certain influential groups are attempting to secure legal protection for the accused. Though these allegations remain unverified, the incident has triggered widespread anger and condemnation.

Community members say the crime has shaken the conscience of society. “This is not just an attack on one child, but on humanity itself,” said a resident. Demands are mounting for strict punishment of the accused and a fair, impartial investigation.

Across Kailashahar subdivision, one demand is echoing loudly: swift justice and exemplary punishment for this barbarity.
