Agartala, 27th March 2024: In a significant political development, over two hundred voters from various opposition parties made a pivotal shift to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during a joining meeting held at the state BJP office. The exodus, comprising 207 voters from 42 families, saw individuals formerly associated with the CPIM, Congress, and Trinamool Congress aligning themselves with the BJP.
State BJP vice-president Tapash Bhattacharya, along with Janajati Morcha vice-president Bidyut Debbarma, and BJP leader Jaylal Das, among others, graced the occasion. During the meeting, BJP leaders formally welcomed the newcomers, presenting them with party cards and integrating them into the BJP fold.
Speaking to the press, BJP vice-president Tapas Bhattacharya expressed the magnitude of the shift, noting that the 207 voters, representing diverse segments of the state, had voiced their commitment to contribute to the BJP’s endeavors. This transition underscores the growing support for the BJP and signals a significant realignment within the state’s political landscape.
