Agartala, 28th July 2025: In the past 18 months, the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of Agartala Government Dental College and IGM Hospital has conducted a remarkable 5,720 tooth extractions and performed 525 minor and major maxillofacial surgeries with notable success.
Agartala Government Dental College and IGM Hospital has emerged as a trusted and reliable centre for the treatment of complex dental and jaw-related ailments, significantly improving access to specialized oral healthcare in Tripura.
This specialized department has gained recognition for its expertise in dealing with a wide range of complex conditions affecting the mouth, jaws, and facial structures.
Currently, the department offers critical services such as wisdom tooth removal, management of oral cavity infections, oral cancer screening, biopsies, and advanced surgeries like jaw cyst and tumor removal, facial bone fracture treatment, temporomandibular joint replacement, and orthognathic surgery. These procedures are often life-changing, restoring not just functionality but also facial aesthetics.
Notably, under the Ayushman Bharat health scheme, 145 patients received free surgical treatment for various maxillofacial conditions over the past year, underlining the hospital’s commitment to accessible healthcare for all.
