Pabitra urges new CM to restore peace and rule of law for state’s development

Agartala: Mar 08. CPIM state committee member and former Deputy Speaker Pabitra Kar today urged the newly appointed Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha to restore peace, harmony and rule of law across the state for development of the state in every aspect.

Speaking to a local media today, Kar said “So far, over 1,500 families were attacked after the announcement of election results, where rubber plantations, cowshed including cows, shops were set ablaze, over 1,000 auto-rickshaws were banned to run, etc. Now, for the past two days, new threat has emerged by demanding extortion from Rs 20,000 to Rs 2 lakh for entertainment purpose.”

“Although, democracy has given us right to oppose such threats, but if it is being done then people won’t be able to stay at home and their houses will be set on fire. We will ask the Chief Minister and the council of ministers to bring back peace, harmony, law and order situation in the state, and restore the freedom of speech for the common masses. Left Front and Congress parties will definitely support any political party have a vision of development of the state”, he added.
