Agartala, 29th March 2025:   On the occasion of the martyrdom day of the three brave heroines, CPIM State Secretariat member and GMP Central Committee President Naresh Jamatia today emphasized the need to strengthen the fight for democracy, rule of law, and social change. “The martyrdom of Kumari, Madhuti, and Rupashree represents not just the struggle against monarchy and the oppressive Titun system, but also the larger liberation movement. Their self-sacrifice continues to inspire the fight for social justice,” Jamatia stated during the gathering at Shaheed Bhumi Padmabil.

Organized by the divisional committee of GMP and the sub-district committee of the All India Democratic Women’s Association, the event saw an outpouring of respect from countless people who paid homage at the Martyrs’ Memorial. Family members of the martyrs and several dignitaries, including GMP leaders like Ranjit Debbarma, Padma Kumar Debbarma and Gayatri Datta, were present. A silent fast was observed to honor the martyrs, and tributes were led by Naresh Jamatia and other prominent leaders.

“The blood of Kumari, Madhuti, and Rupashree laid the foundation for the first Left Front government in the state and expanded the scope of the democratic movement,” Jamatia remarked. He highlighted the significance of continuing their legacy in the ongoing struggle for democracy and justice.

The event also featured speeches by key leaders, including Gayatri Datta and Ranjit Debbarma, who reiterated the importance of preserving the ideals of these martyrs. “Their martyrdom serves as a guiding light for future generations. We must fulfill their dreams of a just and equitable society,” Datta commented.

The day was marked by a two-day fair at Shaheed Bhumi Padmabil, drawing people from diverse communities to honor the heroines’ contributions. A separate program at the Khowai subdivision office also commemorated the occasion, with women’s leader Shukla Sengupta hoisting the flag of the All India Democratic Women’s Association and leaders paying respects at the martyrdom altar.

In his concluding remarks, Naresh Jamatia drew parallels with global movements, referencing the life philosophies of leaders like Ho Chi Minh and Mao Zedong. “Today, let us pledge to repay the blood debt of these martyrs and uphold their vision of social transformation. Their sacrifices remind us of our responsibility to fight against injustice and exploitation,” he said.

The day served as a powerful reminder of the enduring legacy of Kumari, Madhuti, and Rupashree, whose sacrifices continue to inspire movements for freedom and equality.
