Agartala, 5th January 2026:  The discovery of a partially burnt body of a young woman in the outskirts of the city has sent shockwaves through the local community. The incident occurred at Ranjit Saha’s rubber plantation in the Kalitila area, under the jurisdiction of Srinagar Police Station.

According to police sources, the unidentified woman’s body was found in the plantation, about one kilometer from the Srinagar police station, on Monday morning. A local youth, who was cutting trees in the plantation, reportedly saw a dog dragging the body and immediately alerted the police.

The police reached the scene promptly and recovered the body. Preliminary investigations suggest that the woman may have been murdered first, with the body later set on fire in an attempt to conceal her identity. The exact cause of death will be determined after a post-mortem examination.

Authorities estimate the woman’s age to be between 25 and 30 years. However, her identity has not yet been confirmed. Police have intensified the investigation to identify the victim and uncover the circumstances surrounding the crime.

Given the gravity of the incident, the Dog Squad and Forensic team were dispatched to the scene to collect samples and examine the area thoroughly.

The discovery has created fear and unrest in Kalitila and neighboring localities. Police have assured the public that the investigation is underway and that those responsible will be brought to justice swiftly.
