Agartala, 19th November  2024 :  Patal Kanya Jamatia, the recently expelled vice president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura, has launched scathing allegations on Tuesday against her former party and Tipra Motha Party founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma. She accused them of deceiving the state’s indigenous communities through the so-called “Tiprasa Accord” and announced the formation of her new political platform, the Tripura People’s Socialist Party.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Patal asserted that the BJP attempted to use her as a tool for electoral gains but failed. “They can manipulate Pradyot for their vote bank politics, but they cannot do the same with me. Pradyot is misleading the indigenous people in the name of the Tiprasa Accord. Can he even clarify who signed this accord or what it entails? Both BJP and Pradyot are colluding, using money and power to exploit the people,” she alleged.

Rejecting allegations of opportunism, Patal declared her independence from the lure of power. “I am not for sale. I don’t seek positions or money. Even before joining the BJP in 2014, I was running the TPF (Tripura People’s Federation) without financial resources.

I’ve fought cases on crucial issues like NRC and CAA. Today, the indigenous people are more vigilant and aware. While some BJP workers are genuine, there are leaders in the party who are driven by pro-Bangladeshi sentiments. They are turning this party into the ‘Bangladeshi Janata Party,’ and I strongly oppose this,” she said.

Patal described the BJP’s Tripura unit as being on the brink of collapse, blaming its leadership for sidelining the aspirations of indigenous communities. “The BJP in Tripura is becoming its weakest link. They expelled me because I refused to fall in line. They are exploiting the innocence of the indigenous people with Pradyot’s help while ignoring their true sentiments. This injustice will not continue,” she said.
