Agartala 23rd July 2026 : Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee Agartala Civil Hospital is witnessing a growing number of patients seeking medical care, reflecting increasing public confidence in the newly established healthcare facility. Situated near Jackson Gate in Agartala, the hospital was inaugurated on July 12, 2026, by Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha as part of the state government’s initiative to provide modern, affordable, and accessible healthcare while strengthening Tripura’s health infrastructure.
To cater to the rising patient load, the hospital is operating its Outpatient Department (OPD) in two shifts. Registration is open from 9 am to 12 noon and 5 pm to 7 pm, while doctors continue consultations beyond registration hours until every patient present has been attended to.
Among the patients who visited the hospital on Thursday was Tapan Kumar Ghosh from Kashipur, who is receiving treatment for diabetes. He had initially visited the hospital on July 14, when medical tests detected high blood sugar levels, and returned on July 20 for a follow-up examination. During his latest visit, he consulted General Medicine specialist Dr. Uttam Kumar Barman, who assessed his health and prescribed medication. Ghosh appreciated the hospital’s efficient management, cleanliness, and quality of medical care.
Retired professor Sabita Pal Bhowmik also shared a positive experience after visiting the General Medicine Department. She said the hospital follows a well-organised patient management system similar to that of a reputed private hospital. According to her, preliminary health checks, including measurement of weight, height, and blood pressure, were conducted before she met the doctor, after which she was referred for blood investigations in Room No. 102. She also praised the professionalism and courteous behaviour of the hospital staff.
Another patient, Shishir Chakraborty, who visited the General Medicine Department, was advised to undergo diagnostic tests, including blood investigations. Expressing satisfaction with the services, he lauded the hospital’s hygienic surroundings, prompt medical attention, and the friendly attitude of the doctors and staff. He said the hospital has created a positive impression and hoped it would continue to maintain and further improve its standards of healthcare delivery.
