Agartala, June 03, 2023: Sai Computer Limited, a private electricity service provider in Kailashahar, is plagued with complaints. Consumers staged a protest by blocking the Kailashahar city’s main thoroughfare, Central Road, and surrounded the office of the organization late on Friday night, alleging failure to provide services in Bimal Singha Housing Complex area of Ward No. 1 of Kailashahar Municipal Corporation.

Even by 1.30 pm on Saturday, the situation was not normal. It is to be noted that about three years back, the responsibility of providing electricity services to Kailashahar sub-division was handed over to the private company Sai Computer Limited and from that day the consumers started suffering. Fake electricity bills, poor quality services, every area from urban to rural areas remain without electricity, dearth of workers due to negligence of the company, allegations of salary deprivation of workers have also been raised.

In the greed of higher profits, the concerned electricity corporation or the minister of the department is not paying attention to anything, despite the mountain of daily complaints, along with the suffering of the customers, by employing unskilled workers.

Allegedly, on Friday, the electricity wire snapped in the Bimal Singh Housing Complex area of Ward No. 1 of Kailashahar Municipal Council. As soon as the locals witnessed the matter, they tried to call the office of Sai Computer Limited to report it, but after trying for almost two hours, they failed to come to the company’s office and report it in person as the employees of the company put down the receiver of the phone.

As the evening passed, no worker repaired the conductor and shut down the line, the residents again rushed to the office of the company and simultaneously informed the Kailasahar police station.

About 200 families walked through the place where the power cable fell. Fearing that an accident could happen at any time, the citizens of the area failed to make a detour at the Kailasahar police station and once at the office of the power department, and were forced to block the central road of Kailasahar at around 12:30 AM in the night and at the same time started protesting by surrounding the office of the company.

At one point, Kailasahar police and TSR forces arrived and brought the situation under control. But even in this case, police personnel started sweating because none of the workers or officials of Sai Computer Limited were willing to listen to the words of the police. After much tussle, the main line in the area was shut down, consumers lifted the blockade. But the situation in Bimal Sinha Housing Complex area was not completely normal until 1.30 pm on Saturday, many houses are still without electricity. As a result, people are still angry.
