PM Modi interacts with Tripura’s Kalaha Reang virtually in ‘Ujjal Bharat, Ujjal Bhavisya POWER@2047’ prog

Agartala, July 30, 2022: As part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and ‘Ujjal Bharat, Ujjal Bhavisya POWER@2047’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday interacted with beneficiaries of different districts across the country under PM-KUSUM, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana etc. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, chief secretary JK Sinha also joined the programme on Saturday from Civil Secretariat through video conference.

From Tripura’s Khowai district, Kalaha Reang interacted with Prime Minister. Along with him, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, who is also the Power minister and secretary of Power department Brijesh Pandey were also present. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also has had inaugurated electricity schemes of the state and laid foundation stone. He also inaugurated National Rooftop Solar Portal.

Addressing the programme, Modi said “The present central government since last 8 years has been working towards development of each and every sector associated with the Power system. Lives of the people of the country have changed hugely as a result of the development in the Power system. Today’s programme signifies new goal and new achievement of New India of the 21st century. The Power sector will play a significant role in accelerating country’s development in the next 25 years.” He said, the central government is working giving importance to Green Hydrogen production. In this regard, two Green Hydrogen projects are currently going on in Ladakh and Gujarat. This kind of initiative is the first in the country.

The Prime Minister said, infrastructure for electricity production of about 1 lakh 70 thousand Mega Watts have been set up in the country in the last 8 years. “About 1 lakh 70 thousand 70 km transmission line has been extended to connect the entire nation with Power system. Altogether, 3 crore families have been provided with electricity connection under Saubhagya Yojana. Various reforms have been made in the Power sector in the last few years to bring electricity within the reach of the common people and to make the Power system efficient and effective. ‘One Nation, One Power Grid’ system has been started in the country which is now counted as the nation’s power”, he also added.
