Agartala, 19th June 2026: The present Central and State governments are working to develop farmers, the poor, youth, and women to make India one of the best countries under the vision of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.
This was said by Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath today while addressing a One-Day District-Level Workshop on Natural Farming at Madhumala SB School, KK Nagar, Bishalgarh, as part of the Khet Bachao Abhiyan initiative.
He said that everything comes from nature and the environment.
“We can’t survive without nature. The main foundation of our economy is agriculture; that is why without the development of agriculture, the development of India is not possible. PM Modi has been giving stress to villages and farmers. India produces the highest production of rice and wheat. PM Modi has completed 4,408 days, which is 12 years continuously in office with success. He has been working for the welfare of the people, and that is why 283 schemes have been implemented, including state and centrally sponsored schemes. In agriculture, we have PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, PM Fasal Bima Yojana, PM Kusum, Soil Health Card, etc., Ayushman Bharat, PM Awas Yojana, and more,” said the Minister.
The Minister said that during the Left Front regime, they provided 72,000 houses, and now over 4 lakh houses have been provided, with another 2.5 lakh to be given. They have also provided 6.48 lakh free water connections, whereas during the Left Front government only 25,000 were given.
“We have also given free rations. Earlier, India used to import paddy and wheat for the people; now, after PM Modi came, we are exporting paddy to other countries. PM Modi wants to make India a grain storage hub. These credits go to farmers and PM Modi. PM Modi said that if we can develop farmers, the poor, youth, and women, then India will become one of the best countries under Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat, and with this aim we are working. In terms of the economy, we were in 11th position and now we are in 4th position due to PM Modi,” he added.
During the event, MLA Sushanta Deb and others attended the event.
