PMKSY 2.0 project launches ‘Water Save Initiative’ in Hejamara block, aims to make people self-reliant: Ratan Lal Nath

Agartala, 28th January 2025:   The PMKSY 2.0 project is making significant strides in empowering people to become self-reliant, with a special focus on benefiting the Tiprasa community. Minister Ratan Lal Nath highlighted this initiative during the launch of the Water Save Project in Urabari village of Purba Noagaon, Hejamara Block today.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Nath emphasized the pivotal role of the PMKSY 2.0 project in the agricultural sector. “Currently, this project is operational in 19 places across 18 subdivisions of the state, with a budget of 5 crore 40 lakh rupees,” he said. The Water Save Development Program organized today in Purba Noagaon ADC Village is part of this larger initiative. As part of the program, 50 thousand rupees, coconut saplings, and various agricultural inputs were distributed to women of self-help groups.

Minister Nath elaborated on the project’s goals, stating, “This project aims to make people self-reliant by conserving soil and water, preventing soil erosion, and protecting the environment through pond digging, fish farming, pig farming, and other means.” He expressed hope that the common people, especially self-help groups, will benefit greatly from the project.
