Agartala, 9th July 2026: A special health camp under the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) was successfully held on July 9, 2024, at the Laljuri Primary Health Centre (PHC) in North Tripura district. The initiative aimed to provide quality healthcare services to pregnant mothers in rural areas.
Dr. Sayan Bhattacharjee, Medical Officer In-Charge of Laljuri PHC, personally conducted health check-ups and screenings for all attendees. According to camp records, 43 pregnant mothers from Laljuri and nearby villages participated. Following thorough examinations, Dr. Bhattacharjee confirmed that no serious complications were detected, and none required referral for advanced treatment.
In addition to medical screenings, each mother received a nutritious food basket to support healthy pregnancy. The camp also featured an awareness session covering key topics such as: Anemia prevention, Antenatal care (ANC) and postnatal care (PNC), Importance of institutional delivery in government hospitals, and Guidance on newborn care.
The hospital pharmacist assisted throughout the process, while ASHA workers played a vital role in mobilizing mothers from rural areas and spreading awareness.
Local women expressed gratitude for this humane initiative, which not only ensured safe maternal health but also reinforced the importance of nutrition and institutional care.
