Agartala, April 22: Police apprehended the husbands of two deceased housewives following intensive investigations into their murders. The suspects, identified as Tanmoy Debnath and Pintu Bajpai, have been taken into custody by police officials.
The first case involves the disappearance of Jayanti Debnath, wife of Tanmoy Debnath from Resham Bagan in Nath Para, reported missing since April 7. Tragically, the next day, the police were alerted to the finding of two dead bodies floating in the Howrah river at the Baldakhal area. Among the recovered bodies was that of Jayanti Debnath. Subsequently, a case was filed at the East Agartala police station by Jayanti’s family, leading to a thorough investigation that culminated in the arrest of her husband, Tanmoy Debnath, on Sunday.
In a separate incident at the Harijan Colony area of the capital, another housewife, Vajpayee, tragically passed away on April 16. Following her demise, allegations surfaced from the deceased woman’s family, accusing her husband of confining her to their home and depriving her of sustenance, ultimately leading to her death. Prompted by the complaint, authorities launched an inquiry resulting in the arrest of the accused husband.
These distressing events have sparked widespread concern and unrest within the affected communities, as residents grapple with the shock and repercussions of the tragic loss of two lives under suspicious circumstances.
