Agartala, 7th May 2024:  In connection to the shocking murder incident in the peripheries of Agartala city on April 30 last, police personnel led by SDPO of NCC police station Subrata Barman conducted a thorough search at the residences of two key suspects, Pradyut Dhar Chowdhury and Sukanta Gupta.

The operation, authorized by the court, was carried out under the supervision of three executive magistrates, accompanied by high-ranking police officials including the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) NCC and the Airport Police Officer-in-Charge (OC).

The search, which lasted several hours, saw law enforcement officers meticulously scouring the properties belonging to Pradyut Dhar Chowdhury, a former president of the Bharat Ratna Sangh Club, and Sukanta Gupta. Although details of the search remain undisclosed as authorities maintain tight-lipped about the ongoing investigation, sources indicate that crucial information was gathered during the operation.

Initial findings suggest a possible link between the murder and illicit trade negotiations, shedding light on the complex nature of the crime. Further intensifying the probe, interrogations with Pradyut Dhar Chowdhury yielded suspicions prompting the subsequent search of the suspects’ residences.

Despite thorough examination, authorities reportedly found no incriminating evidence at the properties. Documents, including mobile phones, bank records, and PAN cards, were scrutinized, revealing no irregularities. Notably, Sukanta Gupta remains unarrested as of the latest update.

The shooting, which claimed the life of Durga Prasanna Deb, the Secretary of the Bharat Ratna Sangh Club, on April 30th in the Shalbagan Hatipara area, sparked a widespread investigation. While three individuals have been apprehended, concerns persist as key suspects, including Raju and Biman, remain elusive.

Family members of the deceased allege negligence on the part of the authorities, urging swift action to apprehend the remaining suspects. Amidst growing apprehension, law enforcement remains vigilant, deploying a specialized team in Kolkata to track down the fugitives.
