Agartala, 5th November 2023: The women police station in Udaipur successfully rescued a minor girl from the clutches of her abductor on Saturday night. The accused, identified as Sujit Das (23), was apprehended in a swift operation in the Shantir Bazar area and is now in police custody.
The ordeal began on November 1, when the minor, a student of Class IX hailing from Udaipur’s Rajarbagh area, was allegedly abducted by the car mechanic. The women Mahila Police Station, setting in motion a thorough investigation under case number 69/2023. According to police sources, the accused, Sujit Das, confessed to having a relationship with the minor girl for an extended period of one and a half to two years. He had persistently urged her to marry him, culminating in an impromptu ceremony at a Tagore house.The Police, acting swiftly upon this revelation, apprehended Sujit Das on Saturday night and transferred him to Udaipur Police Station. The accused will now face charges under section 366(A)/34 IPC of the Indian Penal Code. The accused will be produce before the court as the legal proceedings progress.
