Police seize 60 kgs of cannabis

Agartala: July 31. In a recent operation, Ambassa police successfully intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number AS 03 Y 5007 at the Upanagar Naka checkpoint under the Ambassa subdivision and seized a significant quantity of ganja.

Acting on a tip-off, Dhalai District Superintendent of Police, Abhinash Rai, and Ambassa Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Nityananda Sarkar, along with OC Biswajit Debbarma, swiftly responded to the information and conducted the operation. During the search of the vehicle, police discovered 60 kg of dry ganja concealed in 57 packets, stashed at various places within the car.

 The estimated market value of the seized ganja is reported to be Rs 6 lakh. Unfortunately, the police were unable to apprehend the driver and co-driver of the vehicle, as they managed to escape from the scene, leaving the car behind. However, investigations into their identities and involvement are underway.
