Agartala, December 22: In a successful anti-drug operation, Bodhjungnagar police have seized a significant quantity of narcotics from a container based on information gathered from undisclosed sources.
Acting on a tip, the police managed to intercept a container with registration number KA01AL-4183, recovering 12 cartons of illicit substances, suspected to be Eskuf Cough Syrup. Simultaneously, a young man from an adjacent state was apprehended in connection with the case, and specific charges have been filed against him.
According to Officer-in-Charge Krishna Dhan Sarkar, news reached the Khayerpur Police Station that a substantial amount of narcotics would be unloaded from a container on the Khayerpur Bypass in the neighboring state.
Based on this information, a targeted operation was launched by the police force. The container with registration KA01AL-4183 was intercepted, and the search led to the confiscation of 12 cartons of suspected Eskuf cough syrup.
Officer Sarkar further disclosed that Assam resident Jowel Hazarika has been taken into custody in connection with the case. Specific charges have been filed against him under relevant sections of the law. The police sought remand for Jowel Hazarika on Friday in court. The estimated market value of the seized narcotic substance is expected to exceed Rs 9 lakhs.
This successful operation underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking and related criminal activities in the region. The police remain committed to maintaining public safety and tackling the menace of drug abuse in the community.
