Poultry farm in Durgachhara burns down

Agartala, 26th December 2025:   A poultry farm in Durgachara’s Durgapur was completely destroyed in a fire on Friday morning. The farm, owned by local resident Bikash Das, was engulfed in flames early in the day. Residents rushed to the site after seeing the massive fire and alerted the fire department.

 The fire brigade reached the scene promptly and managed to bring the blaze under control. By then, however, the poultry farm was completely reduced to ashes. The fire claimed the lives of 650 chickens. In addition, ten bags of chicken feed, a large digital weighing machine, water systems, and several electrical appliances were destroyed. Bikash Das, who has been running his poultry business peacefully for the past 19 years, expressed his devastation over the loss. He has appealed to the government for assistance to help him restart his poultry business.
