Power Outage for 15 Days Triggers Road Blockade in Sepahijala village

Date:

Agartala, 18th June 2026:  Residents of the Durlabh Narayan area under Narlchar of Sepahijala district have staged a road blockade in protest against a prolonged power outage and worsening civic conditions.

According to locals, the area has been without electricity for nearly 15 days, severely disrupting daily life. The continuous power failure has also led to a shortage of drinking water, further worsening the crisis.

Residents allege that despite repeatedly lodging complaints with the electricity board office, no action has been taken. Frustrated by the lack of response, people—especially women and students—joined the protest today by blocking a main road.

Students in the area say their studies have been badly affected, while several families report health issues due to the absence of electricity and basic services. Locals also claim that attempts to contact officials over phone have gone unanswered.

Some protesters accused local representatives of ignoring their repeated requests for help, saying the region is being neglected despite ongoing hardships.

Traffic movement was disrupted due to the blockade, causing inconvenience to commuters. Protesters warned that the blockade would continue until electricity services are restored. As of the latest reports, no electricity officials had arrived at the scene, and demonstrators stated that there were no plans to withdraw the protest until their demands are addressed.
