Agartala, July 12, 2023: Several Congress leaders and supporters, including former Chief Minister Samir Ranjan Barman, Pradesh Congress president Asish Kumar Saha and former minister and sitting Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman, took part in a ‘Mouna Satyagraha’ at Gandhighat here on Wednesday. They protested against the BJP-led government’s alleged conspiracies against AICC leader and MP Rahul Gandhi in the Parliament.

Congress MLA Roy Barman told the media that Rahul Gandhi was fighting for Indian democracy, which was under threat from a fascist government. He said that the BJP government was trying to silence every voice of dissent and use agencies like ED, CBI and Income Tax against them.

He said that Rahul Gandhi had raised some questions in the Parliament for the people’s sake, but the treasury bench did not answer them and instead plotted against him. He said that the Gujarat High Court had rejected Rahul Gandhi’s membership as part of the conspiracy.

He expressed his faith in the law and the Supreme Court and hoped that Rahul Gandhi and the countrymen would get justice. He said that they were holding a silent protest across the country to save democracy from being tarnished by the conspirators. He said that they would restore the country with Rahul Gandhi’s leadership.

Former CM Barman said that he had received support from his constituency and that the people’s right to speech had been snatched by the BJP-led government. He said that this situation was prevalent in the state.
