Congress holds “Maun Satyagraha” in Srinagar in solidarity with Rahul Gandhi

Date:

Congress workers on Wednesday held “Maun Satyagraha” or silent protest in solidarity with Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification in Srinagar.

The protest comes after the Gujarat High Court dismissed Rahul Gandhi’s plea seeking a stay on his conviction in the 2019 defamation case recently.

Congress workers including a large number of women assembled in Congress office at Maulana Azad road Srinagar and held silent protest by putting black cloth on their mouth in solidarity with its leader Rahul Gandhi.

The former JKPCC president Ghulam Mohammad Mir who was leading the protest told media that this silent protest is being held by the Congress workers here in solidarity with Rahul Gandhi.

He said Rahul Gandhi who became the voice of poor, downtrodden and minorities and raised issues of corruption besides fought to restore the democracy in the country was being targeted by the present BJP government.

“There is no name of democracy in the country,” Mir said and added “the government is not ready to accept the constitution of the country”.

He said the inflation and unemployment has skyrocketed in the country. Instead of looking into these matters the government is only doing politics by targeting Rahul Gandhi as he is listening to the people of the country and making that loud.
