Agartala, 6th February 2024: In a press conference held at the Pradesh Congress Bhawan on Tuesday, Pradesh Mahila Congress president Sarbani Ghosh condemned the alleged torture and abuse faced by women during the current government’s tenure. Ghosh pointed fingers at the ruling party leaders, accusing them of being extensively involved in incidents related to women.
During the six-year tenure of the present government, Ghosh claimed that women in the state have faced increasing humiliation, attributing it to the misdeeds of the ruling party. She emphasized that due to the influence of the ruling party, women often find it challenging to file cases until they reach the police station.
Ghosh announced the initiation of a Mahila Congress movement not only in Tripura but across the entire country to protest against the alleged violations of women’s rights. The movement aims to raise awareness about the challenges women face and demand justice for victims.
The Pradesh Mahila Congress president asserted that immediate action would be taken upon learning about incidents of violence against women. Ghosh pledged to personally visit the affected areas and stand up for the rights of women, emphasizing the need for justice.
The All India Mahila Congress has also joined the cause, expressing solidarity with Pradesh Mahila Congress in their efforts to address and combat the alleged mistreatment of women under the current government. The movement is expected to gain momentum in the coming days as it spreads across the nation.
