Agartala: January 23. Tipra Motha chairman Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma on Monday hinted that his party will contest the upcoming election along and would release the candidate list in the next three days.
On Facebook live, Debbarma who is also the royal scion of the state reiterated that he will not compromise for indigenous people without any written assurance of ‘constitutional rights’.
“I heard so many things in the media that TIPRA is getting offers from various political parties. But I want to make it clear that in the coming three days, TIPRA Motha will finalize its candidate list and will release it. It’s painful to see that some people from my party are saying that we should go for the alliance as we offered something. I don’t come here for ‘something’ as many poor people who have been deprived for the past 72 years are living with the hope that I will give something to them. I came here for a constitutional solution. Today we are landless and to save our land we need constitutional rights. For this I am fighting”, he said.
Pradyot further said that other parties have money and power but he has the faith and trust of tiprasa people.
Claiming that he is not contesting for ‘power’, or ‘post’, Pradyot said, “I am not fighting for myself and not ready to compromise. We will fight. I want in writing our constitutional solution. Without written assurance, there will be no talk and we will fight alone. People who are fighting for MLA can leave as this fight is for 13 lakhs tribal and this fight is for rights and protection. I will not compromise”.
