Agartala, 24th October 2026 : Tipra Motha founder and former supremo Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma met Tripura youth Lesonjit in Delhi after he was allegedly subjected to derogatory remarks on social media. Assuring the young man of his support, Pradyot highlighted the importance of dignity, identity and unity among the indigenous communities and people of the Northeast.
In a video message released from Delhi, Pradyot introduced Lesonjit as a resident of Tripura and said he had come from Ahmedabad to meet him. Referring to the alleged derogatory comments, including remarks calling Lesonjit “Michael Jackson” and “Chinese”, Pradyot said that despite such insults, Lesonjit remained one of their own and a son of Tripura.
During the meeting, Lesonjit expressed his happiness at meeting Pradyot but admitted that he was feeling somewhat nervous. Pradyot tried to put him at ease and, during their conversation, learned that the young man had never eaten at KFC. He subsequently arranged to have food delivered to him through Swiggy.
Pradyot also advised Lesonjit to return to his home in Kanchanpur first and assured him of the necessary assistance to travel back to Tripura.
Encouraging the young man to stand up for his rights, Pradyot said that if anyone ever made inappropriate or insulting remarks against him, he should firmly defend himself. He emphasised that the people of Tripura, the Northeast and the indigenous communities had every reason to take pride in their identity.
Pradyot also referred to the action taken against the person accused of insulting Lesonjit and asked the young man whether he felt the decision to send the accused to jail was appropriate. After Lesonjit agreed, Pradyot reassured him that he was not alone and that many people stood firmly by his side.
Delivering a message of humanity beyond political affiliations, Pradyot said that people did not need to be involved in politics to help one another; what mattered was having a big heart.
He also mentioned the presence of two other youths from Tripura, Naisha and Faduriyang, during the meeting. Faduriyang, a resident of Kanchanpur, is currently working in Ahmedabad. Pradyot encouraged them to return to Tripura as well.
Concluding the interaction, the Tipra Motha founder invoked the concept of Thansa, meaning unity, and expressed confidence that collective solidarity and unity would ultimately prevail.
Lesonjit, meanwhile, expressed his happiness at meeting Pradyot and extended his greetings to the people of Tripura.
