Agartala, 7th April 2026: Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, founder of the Tipra Motha Party and royal scion, asserted on Tuesday that in the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council elections, the BJP’s financial clout will be defeated by the community strength of Tipra Motha.
Speaking at a large rally in Bankul, South District, Pradyot emphasized that his fight is not for personal gain or party politics but for the welfare of the indigenous population.
“I am not fighting for myself or for Tipra Motha. I am fighting for our poor indigenous people — those without jobs, without food, and those who have lost their land and live in hardship. I am fighting for your rights. When Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha says that if you don’t vote for the BJP, you get nothing, I say this: first provide water, electricity, roads, and a promising future for children, then ask for votes. Nobody cares whether someone is Mog, Chakma, or Tripuri — all are indigenous and all are struggling. The problem is lack of unity. Once we unite, no one can divide us,” he said.
Pradyot also criticized the BJP’s recent manifesto, noting the removal of the word “Tribal” and the proposed renaming of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council to the Tripura Territorial Council.
“What does this signal? BJP relies on its financial strength, being a large party, while we may be smaller, but we have community power. This time, community power will triumph over money power,” said the Tipra Motha leader.
On alliances, he made it clear that he would never compromise the interests of the indigenous people. “We made the right choice by not aligning with the BJP. Until the Tiprasa Accord is fully implemented and the future of our next generation is secured, we will not form any alliance. I would rather die than betray my people. I do not seek jobs, money, property, or land for myself — my goal is to secure all these for you. I will ensure that our indigenous people become the rightful owners of Tripura,” he added.
